Fresh Hopes from Cepu Block
Domestic oil and gas output will increase as the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) had discovered additional oil reserves in Cepu Block at Central Java-East Java border. With the new reserves, oil production in Cepu Block, which is currently managed by ExxonMobil, could rise from the target of 225 thousand barrels per day (bpd).
To fulfill the increased production target from new reserves, ExxonMobil needs to pass a high-level production test (HRT) for several months. The trial, intended for ensuring production security, is targeted to complete in November 2019. After passing the HRT, ExxonMobil must submit a change in the environmental impact analysis (Amdal) following the discovery.
