The Government to Release Oil and Gas Database
The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry will release the national database of oil and gas upstream sector in September 2019 for various uses. For example, researchers can use the database as a reference in their research papers. Private oil and gas companies can also use it in their exploration projects. The government hopes the database can help reduce the exploration costs and boost the currently slowing-down oil and gas industry.
The database will consist of oil and gas reserves’ potential, location, subsurface, and the type of well developed on the blocks. The government hopes that the database could attract many investors in the oil and gas block auctions by developing easy and affordable terms and condition for the database usage as well as its categorization. Some of the data will be free of charge, and some will cost the users.
