Fighting Back Predatory Chinese Cement Producers

If the national cement industry were a ship, a storm was currently hitting the industry. Amid sluggish markets and the threat of oversupply, domestic cement producers faced new competitors from China-made products which were sold at lower prices.

Among Chinese cement brands on the market are Conch from Anhui Cement Company Ltd, Garuda and Jakarta Cements from Jui Shin Indonesia, Sun Fook Industries’ Hippo Cement, Haohan Cement Indonesia’s Serang Cement, and Bima Cement from Pan Asia Cement Indonesia. These Chinese producers had opened factories in Indonesia and marketed their products at Rp 10,000 per sack cheaper than domestic brands like Tiga Roda, Kujang, and Holcim.
