Maximizing Palm Oil Use from B50 to Aircraft Fuel

Summary

The government is ramping up crude palm oil (CPO) utilization for fuel. The biodiesel mix into diesel fuel also increased gradually from 30 percent to 50 percent, before eventually reaching 100 percent.

The government has yet to implement B30 policy or the mandatory use of biodiesel blend by 30 percent. Still, President Joko Widodo had instructed the B50 implementation by 2020.  Moreover, Jokowi wanted the CPO mixing scheme on aviation fuel (avtur). A report from the Coordinating Economic Minister Darmin Nasution emphasized this instruction, saying that PT Pertamina had no longer imported avtur and processed CPO into aviation fuel.
