PDI-P’s New Political Currency Faces Tough Resistance

The People’s Consultative Agency (MPR) and the House of Representatives (DPR) plan to restore the State Policy Guidelines (GBHN) as the state’s performance reference. The plan is in line with the attempt to amend the 1945 Constitution (UUD 1945) back to its origins, initially arranged during President Soekarno’s term.
The plan to reactivate GBHN comes from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) as the ruling party. GBHN will possibly replace the Law No. 25/2004 on the national development planning system and grant the president the right to decide his/her development planning. The GBHN initiator argued that even though an old concept, the guidelines were helpful to keep the national development stay in the track in the long term and no longer depends on whoever is in charge.
