BRI Digital Expansion through Satelite
Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) will add another satellite to complement BRIsat orbited in 2016. The new satellite will help the bank to cover more remote areas and expand the business exponentially through micro, small, and middle enterprises (UKM).
BRI Digital Banking and Information Technology Director Indra Utoyo said that the BRISat, currently positioned above Papua Island, mostly covers the eastern part of Indonesia. Because of that, the western part of Indonesia is relatively untouched by the satellite’s network. The existence of a new satellite will fix the problem.
