PLN to Provide Specially-Generated Electricity
After being scrutinized for poorly handling the blackout incident in early August, PT PLN ready to release several brand new services. The state-owned electricity firm will provide special schemes for electricity generated by renewable-energy power plants such as hydropower plants (PLTA), geothermal power plants (PLTP), and many others.
The firm divides the customers into three new categories: RE-Blue is for the customer whose electricity generated from one or more hydropower plants, RE-Green is for the customer whose electricity generated from either one hydro or geothermal power plant, and RE-Crystal is for the customer whose electricity produced from any other renewable-energy power plant. The new tariff for renewable electricity is around Rp 1,213-2,369 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), slightly more expensive than regular (non-subsidized) tariff at Rp 997-Rp 1,645 per kWh.
