The Government to Impose a New Mineral Tax

Summary

The Finance Ministry is currently drafting the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) on mineral tax. The draft derives from Article 17 of the government regulation (PP) No.37/2018 on the tax treatment and the non-tax state income from the mining industry.

The regulation states that the mining companies, either holding the mining permit (IUP), special mining permit (IUPK), small-scale mining permit (IPR), and special mining permit for production operation (IUPK OP) originated from the mineral contract of work (KK), posses tax rights and responsibilities. In the future, it will regulate the tax on inter-IUP-holders cooperation and any cooperation between the IUP holders and the non-IUP holders. The ministry plans to release the regulation before the end of 2019
