Waves of Pharmaceutical Investors from East Asia
Amid limited pharmaceutical raw materials, the government received investment plans from producers of East Asia. One of them is a Chinese drug producer Bio-Medical Technology Co Ltd (BGBMT) that plans to build an active raw material factory for medicines and other pharmaceutical products.
BGBMT plans to build a factory in Karawang New Industry City (KNIC) Industrial Estate, Karawang, West Java. The project, which stands on 25,000 square meters, would last for ten years. The factory would produce chemicals for cancer drugs, antivirus, and cytotoxic drugs and hormones. BGBMT Chief Executive Officer Yuan Jiandong said the factory serves as a leading supplier for the Indonesian pharmaceutical industry, as well as a means for collaborative research and technology transfer.
