Quick Asset Sales: A Wayout to Ease Infrastructure SOEs Burden
State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) become the backbone of development in President Joko Widodo's administration, especially in infrastructure development, as seen from several infrastructure projects that rely on SOEs. During Joko Widodo's reign, infrastructure-related SOEs were not measured by profit, but rather on how quickly they were able to become agents of development.
Infrastructure-related SOEs have so far succeeded in realizing Joko Widodo's target, following the completion of several infrastructure projects on time, thus paving the way for his re-election in the second term. However, it poses the risk of burdening SOEs operations. That threatens the companies’ financial condition and may hamper their duties as agents of development in the second and last term of Jokowi’s administration.
