SOEs to Carry Out African Projects
Indonesia signed an agreement bill with several Africa countries on infrastructure and transportation during Indonesia-Africa Infrastructure Dialogue 2019 (IAID) in Bali on Tuesday (8/20). The value of the contract was around US$ 822 million or Rp 11,7 trillion. Several state-owned enterprises (SOEs) are involved, such as PT Wijaya Karya (WIKA) Tbk, PT Waskita Karya Tbk, PT Kimia Farma Tbk, PT Bio Farma Tbk, PT INKA, PT LEN Industri, and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI).
For example, WIKA will develop a US$ 40 billion bulk liquid terminal in Zanzibar, Tanzania, a US$ 66 million mixed-used complex Goree Tower in Senegal, and a US$ 66 million social housing in Ivory Coast. On the other hand, INKA, WIKA dan PT LEN Industri will invest in the African railway sector. The three of them have formed a new consortium named Indonesia Railway Development Incorporated for Africa (IRDIA).
