The Government to Boost Local Consumptions

The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has issued a new regulation on reducing diesel imports and increasing domestic absorption. The rule suggests private oil and gas companies buy diesel, especially CN (cetane number) 48 diesel, produced by PT Pertamina or other local refineries, using predetermined prices.

The Energy and Mineral Resources Deputy Minister Arcandra Tahar revealed any private oil and gas company would not get any import recommendation as long as Pertamina could meet the market’s demands. He argued that the decision was for preventing trade deficit in oil and gas sectors. According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data, the oil and gas trade balance from January to July suffered US$ 4.9 billion losses.
