The Government to Allow Brazilian Beef Imports
The government reopens the quota for affordable beef imports. After successfully imported Indian beef, the government has chosen Brazil as the beef supplier. The meat will be distributed throughout traditional markets.
The Trade Ministry will open the import quota to three state-owned enterprises (SOEs): Perum Bulog, PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia, and PT Berdikari, after allowed the private companies to meet the quota in 2018. The three of them were in charge of importing buffalo meats in the previous year, but in this year they are responsible for importing about 50,000 tones of Brazilian beef.
