Ireland’s Dairy Producers to Look for New Market post Brexit
England withdrawal from the EU or Brexit finally takes its toll on several essential industries. One of the affected industries is Ireland’s dairy industry, heavily relying on EU’s and UK’s market.
The producers are now eyeing Indonesia as the new target market since Indonesian dairy needs only depend on Australian and New Zealand producers as the leading suppliers. Irish dairy producers are optimistic they can meet Indonesian demands since the national dairy production has grown 13 percent, and therefore, the industry needs to find a new market to distribute the excess. “We keep offering our products to other countries such as China, Japan, and other South Asian countries,” said the director of markets Bord Bia, Ailish Forde, as quoted by Bisnis Indonesia. Bord Bia is the Ireland governmental agency promoting the country’s food industry.
