PLN to Adjust Electricity Tariffs for 900-VA RTM Customers
PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) will not increase basic electricity tariff next year. However, the state electricity provider plans to adjust the tariffs for capable household customers (RTM) that consume 900-volt ampere (VA) to optimize its performance. PLN Acting President Director Sripeni Inten said the company is sorting capable customers from incapable ones. Previously, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry planned to adjust tariff for non-subsidized customers starting in 2020.
During the meeting between the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry and the House of Representatives Commission VII on electricity subsidy allocation, Sripeni explained the details of the allocation in 2019 which includes R1/450 VA by Rp 32.17 trillion, R1/900 VA by Rp 9.12 trillion, R1/900 VA RTM by Rp. 7.11 trillion, and to others amounting to Rp 13.97 trillion. Overall, the electricity subsidies set in the 2020 State Budget Bill (RAPBN) are Rp 62.21 trillion.
