Three State Banks to Work on Smart SIM
The Indonesian Police (Polri) will launch a smart driving license (Smart SIM) on September 22, 2019. As the name implies, Smart SIM is not only a mandatory device for driving. It can also function as electronic money (e-money) to pay toll road tickets, shop at a convenience store, and settle a traffic violation fine.
For this reason, Polri teams up with Bank Mandiri, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), and Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI). Bank Indonesia (BI) has approved the use of Smart SIM as e-money, even though it is an option for the cardholder whether to activate the Smart SIM as e-money or not.
