PLN to Support Private-Owned Electric Vehicle Facilities

Summary

PT PLN allows investors to involve in the electric car industry. Private companies can own and operate the public electric charging stations to support the electric car operation.

Previously, PLN only allowed several state-owned firms to operate the charging stations. However, the firm now also allows the investors and private companies to involve in the business. They can run and manage the stations through partner-owned, partner-operated (POPO). The scheme will enable them to build and operate the stations as long as PLN supplies the electricity. All they need to do is having the necessary land and getting a clearance from the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.
