Banks Seek Additional Capital
For credit expansion, several small and medium-sized banks are looking for additional capital in the second half of this year. Bank BCA Syariah, for example, received extra money of Rp 1 trillion at the end of August 2019 from its parent Bank Central Asia (BCA) by issuing new shares. Bank Oke Indonesia will seek additional capital of Rp 500 billion through a rights issue that will take place later this year.
Bank Mayapada will also attract additional capital through a rights issue of 455,495,000 series B shares worth Rp 1 trillion starting in early October. The bank’s management said that the proceeds from the rights issue could strengthen its capital structure. Thus, it can increase Bank Mayapada’s capability to improve business activities, performance, and competitiveness in the Indonesian banking industry.
