Mandatory Electric Vehicle Regulation for Transport Operators

The electric car market opportunities are wide open as the government will require transport operators to use environmentally-friendly vehicles. Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said he had drafted a regulation requiring transport operators to meet specific proportions of electric cars in their fleet.

However, he continued, the issuance of the regulation would consider many factors, such as the burden and smoothness of electric vehicle operations. Therefore, there will be socialization within two years to prepare operators and vehicle manufacturers’ readiness.
