State-Owned Enterprises to Pay More Dividends

Summary

The government and the House of Representatives (DPR) on Wednesday agreed to increase next year’s dividend payment target of state-owned enterprises to Rp 49 trillion. The number is higher than the government’s initial state budget draft of 2020 at Rp 48 trillion. The DPR hopes that the raise of non-tax revenue from the state-owned enterprises’ profit will trigger the increase of the state-owned enterprises’ performance.

However, the state-owned enterprises’ dividend payment target in 2020 is lower than the 2019 state budget projection at Rp 49.61 trillion. Unfortunately, the realization of the dividend payment only reached Rp 45.59 trillion as a result of the global economic recession. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Telkom, and Pertamina contribute Rp 9.3 trillion, Rp 8.5 trillion, and Rp 8 trillion respectively to this year’s dividend payment.
