A Chance to Reduce Industrial Electricity Rates

Summary

PT PLN plans to reduce electricity rates for the industry next year. This reduction could occur after PLN implemented new technology in most of the power plants included in the 35 thousand megawatt megaproject.

Electricity rates will go down after PLN applies ultra-supercritical (USC) boiler technology in several steam power plants (PLTU). The application of USC technology to power plants with a total capacity of 1,000 megawatts requires a rate of US$ 4.2 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh). It is much lower than the industrial electricity tariff of US$ 7.12 cents per kWh.
