Heavy Equipment Data Collection Stalled

Summary

The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing would require each contractor to register heavy equipment before taking part in infrastructure projects auction. This measure was taken after the government had difficulties in registering heavy equipment used by industry players, making the quantity, reliability, efficiency, and adequacy were unknown.

The Ministry has been carrying out the registration process for heavy equipment since 2018, yet only 28,000 equipment or 35 percent have been registered. Heavy equipment data collection is necessary to identify occupational risks in every infrastructure, property, plantation, and mining project.
