COCO Strengthens Domestic Market
PT Wahana Interfood Nusantara Tbk (COCO) will still focus on expanding into the domestic market this year. Wahana Interfood Nusantara President Director Reinald Siswanto said 99 percent of the expansion would be carried out in the local market, while the rest targets the export market. “Although we have a network, we do not focus on exports. But since 2014, we have been a bit worried about determining our position because of the Asean Free Trade Area (AFTA). It’s why we are switching to the domestic market. We will also explore distribution to Eastern Indonesia as a tight strategy for product distribution,” he said on Wednesday (9/11).
To realize it, the company that joins the IDX in March 2019 will build factories in the Sumedang Regency. It also plans to build distribution centers in several regions, including Bali, as the main gateway for the distribution of chocolate products to Eastern Indonesia. Currently, the COCO-coded company has distribution plants in Cakung and Bandung. Although it used a B-to-B distribution model, Reinald now wants to be more aggressive in expanding through a B-to-C method or retail distribution of Schoko products.
