Government to Limit More Raw Mineral Exports

Summary

The government plans to limit the exports of more raw minerals after successfully prohibits nickel ore exports. The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, Luhut Pandjaitan, revealed that one of them was bauxite ores, aluminum’s primary material.

According to Luhut, the government is reviewing the possibility to limit the bauxite ores exports to increase domestic alumina and aluminum productions. Luhut argues that processed ores are more valuable commodities and can, therefore, attract billions of dollar investments in the mineral processing sectors. However, the government will limit the export of not only bauxite ores but also the lead ores. The restriction will hopefully develop the lead processing industry.
