LinkAja to Release Sharia-Based E-Money
PT Fintek Karya Nusantara (LinkAja) is ready to manage a sharia-based payment business. The e-money platform recently received a sharia-compliant certificate from the National Sharia Council of Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN MUI). LinkAja is currently waiting for the clearance from Bank Indonesia (BI), as the e-money regulator, to operate the sharia-based payment feature. The company expects the feature to roll out before New Year’s Eve.
The sharia-based e-money is quite different from conventional e-money since the transaction deal, and even marketing campaign must follow the sharia provision. The sharia feature offered by LinkAja allows the user to pay zakat, infaq, and sadaqah at anywhere and anytime. The e-money platform, initiated by PT Telkomsel and several state-owned banks, also targets the pesantren’s tuition fee payments and looks forward to getting one million users at the end of 2020.
