Hutchinson 3 Indonesia to Explore the Acquisition and Merger Plans

The management of PT Hutchison 3 Indonesia has prepared some acquisition or merger schemes with other operators following the government plan to consolidate cellular operators. Tri is ready to spend some money on any possible corporate action since the company freshly acquired Rp 47 trillion from the shareholders. Hutchison 3 Indonesia intends to use some of the funds to perform business and network expansion, pay debts, as well as carry out acquisitions and mergers.

PT Hutchison 3 Indonesia had recently talked to three operators, PT XL Axiata Tbk (EXCL), PT Indosat Tbk (ISAT), and PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk (FREN) about the possibility of acquisitions or mergers. Hutchison 3 Indonesia Vice-President Director, Danny Buldansyah, revealed that his company had discussed the option to consolidate with all of them. However, he was not sure which operator was the most fitting target.
