Smart SIM and New Opportunities for Gojek

The ride-hailing giant, Gojek, may get new opportunities after being designated as an early adopter of a Smart Driving License (Smart SIM), a digital-based driving license released by the Indonesian Police.

Head of Police Traffic Corps Inspector General Refdi Andri said Gojek was chosen since it has millions of driver-partners. With Smart SIM, the police will monitor movements of motorcycle taxis and online taxis facilitated by Gojek at ease. Refdi said Smart SIM could be integrated with Gojek’s digital payment system, GoPay.
