A riot broke out after student demonstrations finished protesting several revisions of problematic bills. The most problematic drafts are the revisions of the Corruption Eradication Commission (RUU KPK) and Criminal Code laws (RKUHP).

The students did not only protest about RUU KPK and RKUHP. They also demanded the House of Representatives to revoke the Natural Resources law-allowing the state to exploit water resources, as well as to reject land, mineral mining, correctional, and labor bills. The students presumed all of them filled with conflicting interests.
