Welcoming the Biodiesel-fueled Train
The use of a 100 percent blended biodiesel (B100) for public transportation commenced immediately, pioneered by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) which is building B100-fueled locomotives.
KAI is developing B100-powered locomotives in collaboration with the logistics company PT Servo Marga Sejahtera (Servo Railway) and a US-based railroad company Progress Rail. The feasibility study will take a year, and the cooperation will follow with the procurement of B100 locomotives. The train will be used to transport plantations logistics in Sumatera, including oil palm plantations which produce raw materials for B100.
