Sluggishness in Vehicle Body Assembly Industry

The sluggish vehicle body assembly industry is getting worse as the market for these products is shrinking without any policy to assist the development of this industry.

According to information obtained from Kontan, Secretary-General of the Indonesian Body Assembly Association, T.Y. Subagyo, said that the demand for vehicle body decreased by more than 10 percent this year. According to him, the most significant decrease was the demand for trucks or goods transportation bodies, while the demand for bus bodies is relatively well maintained. PT Delima Carosserie Managing Director Winston Wiyanta claimed the company only relies on orders from the government to survive.
