Network-Based Natural Gas Price Set to Decrease

Summary

The price of natural gas distributed through pipeline networks could get lower after the government issued the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Regulation No. 14/2019 on the selling price of natural gas distributed through pipeline networks, which comes into effect on January 1, 2020.

The government, through the regulation, will extend the economic life of the gas pipe from 15 years to 30 years. By using this strategy, the toll fee of natural gas is getting low and, consequently, the gas price is getting cheaper. The economic life extension could also force the distributor, PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk or PGN, to low pipe rental price.
