Used Capital Goods to Get No Import Duty

Summary

The government will impose another import duty relaxation to attract more investments. This time, the Trade Ministry annuls the Trade Minister Regulation on import license requirement for secondhand or used capital goods. In other words, importers are free to import used capital goods such as used vehicles, machines, and various types of equipment.

According to the Trade Minister, Enggartiasto Lukita, the obligation to issue import licenses on used capital goods was one of the regulations hindering the investments. The import duty relaxation on used capital goods, he added, was one of many reasons preventing companies from relocating their factories to Indonesia. He also revealed that used capital goods importers would get the relaxation as long as they commit to investing in Indonesia.
