The development of R80, the last plane designed by B.J. Habibie before his demise, is getting a new direction. The government has decided to develop the aircraft with 80-90 passenger seats as the national strategic project.

The Coordinating Economic Ministry, Darmin Nasution, revealed that the R80 development would be in the government’s strategic industry program. He said that the government plans to collaborate with private companies to fund the project, which might start in 2023.
