Government Increases Budgets for Subsidized Houses

Summary

President Joko Widodo agreed to increase the budgets of subsidized housing for low-income people through the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) this year. Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said the additional budget was agreed at Rp 2 trillion, allowing the government to build an additional 20,000 to 30,000 units of subsidized housing through the scheme.

The FLPP distributor, Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN), would bail out the additional budget so that the government does not need to submit revisions to the 2019 State Budget (APBN). Therefore, the FLPP distribution and the construction of subsidized houses can be implemented. The government will pay off the bailout next year.
