Mandatory Slaughterhouses for Chicken Farmers

Summary

The government plans to revise Agriculture Minister Regulation No. 32/2017 on the supply, distribution, and supervision of chicken and eggs for consumers. In the revision bill, the Ministry requires farmers to own poultry slaughterhouses (RPHU) with the same capacity as the live bird production.

Farmers must fulfill the large-capacity RPHU ownership in stages within five years after the new regulation takes effect. In the first year, farmers are required to have an RPHU with a minimum capacity of 30 percent of live bird production, increasing to 60 percent in the second until fully met in the fifth year.
