Tug of War over Minerba Act

Summary

The Government and the House of Representatives postponed the discussion to revise Law No. 4/2009 on Minerals and Coal (Minerba) and would be continued in the 2019-2024 term. The fierce debate over the Problem Inventory List (DIM) and many controversial articles were the reason behind the postponement.

The House’s new term would discuss the Minerba Law revision along with other bills such as the revision on Criminal Code, Cooperative Act, the Land Law, and the Drug and Food Control Act. In the Minerba Law, several crucial articles were problematic, such as the opportunity to extend mining contracts and manage mining areas in which the concessions have expired.
