No Need for Environmental Permits Anymore
After planning to exempt Building Permit (IMB), the government now intends to revoke the provision on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). The exemption will be carried out through the Omnibus Law on licensing, which is currently being discussed by the Coordinating Economic Ministry and other related ministries.
Bisnis.com reported on Wednesday (10/9) that the Spatial Planning Ministry’s Director General of Spatial Planning Abdul Kamarzuki said the EIA provision was no longer needed since in spatial planning, both through the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) and Spatial Plan Detail (RDTR), aspects in the Environmental Impact Assessment have been taken into account. With the removal of the mandatory EIA, employers only need to ensure that the building to be built is following the spatial provisions.
